We’ve listened carefully to your feedback and made a number of improvements to our GP Triage system to make it easier, clearer and more user-friendly to use.

You Asked: Make the system easier to use

We Did: We’ve introduced a fresh new look that’s faster, more user-friendly and easier to navigate, with improved accessibility features to support patients.

You Asked: Make booking appointments more reliable

We Did: We’ve added new safeguards to help reduce appointment booking problems
caused by national EMIS system issues.

  • The system now waits longer for confirmation that an appointment has been
    successfully booked.
  • If there is a delay, we’ll automatically check availability again and guide you through your next steps.
  • You’ll now receive much clearer messages confirming whether your appointment has been booked successfully.
  • If we’re unable to book after repeated attempts, we’ll let you know clearly and
    securely pass your triage details to the practice for follow-up where appropriate.

You Asked: Can it be clear when I want a New or Follow-Up appointment

We Did: We have now added options for booking a new or follow-up appointment

You Asked: Make it clearer what’s happening with my appointment request

We Did: We’ve improved appointment booking messages throughout the process, so you’ll always have a better understanding of the status of your request.

You Asked: Make entering my details easier on my phone

We Did: We’ve introduced a simpler date-of-birth selector, making it quicker and easier to enter your information on mobile devices.

You Asked: Sometimes I’m not sure how to describe my symptoms

We Did: We’ve added a symptom search tool at the start of the triage process. Simply start typing your symptom and choose from a list of suggestions, making it easier to find the right option and complete your request.

You Asked: Let me correct mistakes without starting again

We Did: We’ve added a Back button during the triage questions, so you can easily review and change previous answers if needed.

You Asked: Make sure clinicians have the full picture

We Did: Your triage summary now provides a more complete overview of your responses, helping the practice better understand your symptoms and concerns.

You Asked: Give me more choice when booking appointments

We Did: We’ve improved how appointment options are displayed, making available
appointments easier to view and giving you a clearer choice of suitable slots.

You Asked: Show me how to use the system

We Did: We’ve updated our “How to Use GP Triage” patient video, so you can see exactly how the latest version works before using it. We now only have one, 3 minute video which is available at the start of all triage requests.

How to Use GP Triage – For Patients

The upgrade went live at 2pm on Tuesday 14th July 2026.
