Enhanced access

Watership Down Health is working with Tadley Surgery to provide routine appointments for all our patients from 6:30pm to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and Saturday morning, 9am to 11am.

Only one surgery will be open at these times but you are able to book in to any surgery. If booking for Tadley you will be asked to give permission for the doctor you will be seeing to have access to your records. They need this in order to see you.

Text message reminders

Face to face appointment reminders can be sent to you via a text message, please ensure we have the correct mobile phone number for you. If you do not wish to use this service you may chose to opt out.

Pharmacy first

As qualified healthcare professionals, community pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains
  • ear infections (1 year up to 17 years)
  • impetigo (1 year and over)
  • infected insect bites (1 year and over)
  • shingles (18 years and over)
  • sinusitis (12 years and over)
  • sore throat (5 years and over)
  • uncomplicated urine infections (women 16 to 64 years)

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Find a pharmacy

Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.

Most pharmacies have a private room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff.

Cancelling or changing an appointment

To cancel your appointment:

If you need help when we are closed

If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

For children/young people, 0 to under 18 years, use the Healthier Together app.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face or by video call
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs or require reasonable adjustments

Home visits

These are available for people who are too ill, disabled or immobile to get to the surgery. Please phone the surgery before 11am whenever possible and give the receptionist the reason for your request so that we can prioritise them.

If clinically appropriate, a GP, practice nurse or proactive care nurse may visit. A member of our duty team will phone you back to discuss your needs because sometimes it may be possible to deal with the issue over the phone.

In general it is not acceptable to request a visit because of lack of transport. Buses, cars, friends, family and taxis can often be used to get to the surgery.
